20mm Super-O Boyer Bracelet for SEIKO Sumo SBDC001 SBDC003 SBDC031 SBDC033, Button Chamfer SS201820B032
We all agree that the Seiko “Sumo” series watches are certainly one of the most popular and well respected diver watch among watch collectors from around the world. Its simple, yet elegant look, as well as one of the best quality & price ratio watch you currently find in the market. The Seiko Prospex Diver Watch 200m SBDC001 was initially launched back in 2007, as a mid-range watch, though above the entry-level Turtle and Samurai models, but slightly below the MarineMaster 300m series.
Super-O Boyer watch bracelet is composed by 3 flat and solid 316L stainless steel units and a curved solid end piece perfectly fit Seiko Sumo SBDC001, SBDC003 & SBDC005 models. Well-made solid 316L stainless steel links are assembled with screw instead of flimsy pins to keep its solidity and stability.

A better movement than the two affordable pieces on one side, a case with more attention to details too, but a lower water-resistance and does not come in a sapphire crystal like the MM300.

Earlier this year at Baselworld 2019, Seiko announced a new “Sumo”, SPB101J1 (Black) & SPB103J1 (Green), which both are currently available in the market for purchase. The Seiko Prospex 200M Automatic Green Sumo Sapphire 3rd Gen Ref. SBDC081 / SPB103J1 (international reference) precursor initially released in 2007 under the reference. SBDC001/003, but now with drastic changes that will definitely get the attention it deserves from many watch enthusiasts .
Another upgrade for the new Sumo that is worth mentioning is that the crystal material is finally changed from hardlex to sapphire crystal, and the SPB101J1 (Black) & SPB103J1 (Green) are among the first Sumo to get the upgrade.
The New 6R35 Movement With Up To 70 Hours Reserve, original image from neel.co.jp
One of the obvious and perhaps the most talked about upgrade for the new Sumo must be Seiko’s latest automatic caliber movement, 6R35, which is an upgrade from the workhorse 6R15. Although it still operates at 21,600 BPH (3 Hertz) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. Its main updates are the increase of jewels to 24 and a power reserve of 70 hours from 50 hours on previous versions.
Seiko Sumo watches in general are probably still one of the best bangs for buck Seiko dive watch in the market. Although some may disagree with the price increase from its predecessor. But, in return, you get to enjoy the Sumo with new movement as well as a sapphire crystal where some wouldn’t mind paying a little extra for.
Several of the Sumo model watches that came before the SPB103J1 that are worth mentioning are none other than then the beautiful purple bezel & blue dial SPB055J1, the 50th Anniversary black classic SBDC027 Sumo. Who can forget the blue, red, and white, SBDC049, pepsi dial padi Sumo, the Thai’s Limited Edition Silver Sumo, SPB029J1 , and of course the first green sumo, SZSC004.
